About...... Mt. Kalatungan
"Kalatungan Mountain Range is a mountain range located in the central portion of the province of Bukidnon, the Philippines. It is one of the few areas in the province covered with old growth or mossy forests. It covers an area of approximately 213.0134 km² (82.24493 mi²), with about 113.7175 km² (43.90657 mi²) identified as part of the critical watershed area declared under Presidential Decree 127, issued on June 29, 1987 (Muleta-Manupali Watershed). The water from these two rivers (Muleta and Manupali Rivers) is supporting the multimillion dam project of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) of the Philippines."
"The mountain is sacred to us especially to our IPs, provides abundant water and a protected area, there are certain laws that govern the entries of people. It is regarded 9/10 in terms of climb difficulty and rains most of the time. You need to make the necessary preparations physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. Why? 1.You don’t want to get an injury or somebody else in your group; 2. Of course mentally and emotionally because the terrain is difficult you don’t want to end up hearing somebody in your group crying and complaining; 3. Lastly, it is not for free and you will hire local guides/porters and if you violate some policies you would need to have extra for the penalty. Please read the updated guidelines."
"Be sure to have the basic equipment or must haves of a climber to survive in the mountain. Please make sure to be physically ready including your group-mates to avoid problems/inconveniences. Abide by the local policies to avoid penalties/sanctions. Do not leave your trash in the mountain. Do not take anything from the mountain. Respect the nature and the culture. It is a sacred place so you must control your behaviour. Avoid boisterous acts and being loud, enjoy the serenity and the sound of nature instead. "
