Some prefers camping in Aplaya Campsite than in Dulangan River on day 2. The advantage in camping in Dulangan River is the easy access to water source. Even so, pacing of the group will decide where you will camp.
-
Always prepare your lunch advance. Preferably during breakfast pack nyo na. This is to save time and butane. Good din yan para kung biglang umulan, mahirap magluto kung umuulan.
-
Invest in good quality rain jacket. Expect afternoon (heavy) rains. But expect worst might happen.
-
Survey/Study your tent before the climb.
-
Thermal clothes, windbreaker are must bring. Expect extreme cold weather in summit.
-
Invest in good quality shoes and socks to prevent blister (paltos) and to keep your nails alive after the climb.
-
Save your batteries! Bring powerbank. Keep a contact details of someone on the trailhead.
-
Secure enough food supply. Remember to include your guide/s and porter/s. Share natin sila ng food.
-
Scatter your trial food. For some reason, some of you will get ahead during the climb. Better to have trail food of your own.
-
Bring water containers. Water source is not hard to find in Mt. Halcon. Napakarami.
-
Pack light. You will feel your bag getting heavier every day. TIP. Just bring 1-2 pairs of dri-fit clothes. You can leave temporarily your “pang-uwi” clothes in the jump-off. Practice washing dirty clothes when rest time of the team then dry under the sun.
-
Bring your trash with you all the time up to descent.
-
Thank the locals after the climb. Feel free to donate something!
